Modern images reveal a cabinet shop, restaurants, consignment/antique shops, beauty salons, an insurance agency, a convenience store, a bank and three churches. The repurposed Arlington Grade School now is used as city offices, a wellness center, the city library and a consignment shop. If you take a closer look, you will see the resilient and resourceful residents who have come together to bring innovative visions to the city of Arlington. The town’s beauty is noticed not only in the cheerful residents but also in the lush, wooded landscape and the swirling waters of the Ninnescah River. Location: Just Northeast of where K61 Hwy and KS Hwy 11 intersect and positioned along the banks of the Ninnescah River. K61 runs right through town. Arlington is 18 SW of Hutchinson, 22 miles North of Kingman, 37 miles East of Pratt, and 60 miles Northwest of Wichita.

History:
  • Settlers came to Arlington for cheap land available through the homestead program in the 1870s.
  • Town planned by partners Geo. P. Empey and A.K. Burrell on August 1st, 1877.
  • First mayor - J. E. Eaton (1878)
  • Post office established January 4th, 1878.
  • Early 1900s mechanized agriculture changed Arlington.
  • 1903 George White built first combine in Reno County.
  • 1903 - first phone service to town of Arlington.
  • 1908 - first automobiles in town.
  • 1912 - Arlington Grade School built.
